Someone has to take the blame for the Los Angeles Lakers’ disastrous season. Unfortunately for head coach Darvin Ham, that someone appears to be him. The 50-year-old just completed his second season with the Lakers, and now that he’s seen by many as the logical scapegoat, it appears that this may have been his last.
Golden State Warriors star Draymon Green is having none of it, though.
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Green admitted that he’s well aware of the rumors surrounding Ham’s supposedly imminent exit. The former Defensive Player of the Year came to Ham’s defense, though, pointing out that all the blame can’t be pinned on the coach:
“What’s going to happen with Darvin Ham?” Green said. “I think it would be wrong to fire him. He’ll catch a lot of flack for the season that they had. I think that’s garbage. Their roster didn’t get better than last year, and they were a play-in team.”

Green did say that he believes changes are “definitely” coming within the Lakers organization, but he’s made his feelings about Coach Ham — and his haters — abundantly clear.
It’s not as if Draymond has any sway within the Lakers organization, so this message of support for Green will likely fall on deaf ears. LA will make a decision on their coach soon, and it could very well be the end of Darvin Ham’s Lakers tenure.
